I am making a creature in the Monster Creator and saved it. When I went to generate it the skills that I put in the Creator did not show up in the generator. I put ranks in and made sure that they are the right amount. Am I doing something wrong?
Also thank you so much for adding a second Template in the generator!!
Hi Paul,
I’m a lifetime member, haven’t used the site for about 3-weeks, but although it is recognising my username and pwd as a lifetime member, the NPC Generators are limiting me to level 5 and I can’t access the Add/Edit Monster tool at all. Can you please investigate.
How do you output a monster you’ve created with your generator? I’ve created a couple monsters, but I cannot output their information in an immediately usable form.
Hi jcasanave, press the “Plain Text Version” button next to the Recalculate button and then copy and paste the result to your word processor and print it out.
‘eh Dingle. Long time lurker here, just considering a membership. Tell you what - I’ll buy the $7 3-month membership, and if I still need it in 3 months, I’ll fork over $33 for a lifetime membership. Cool?
Hi. Is the site broken today? Every time I hit “Recalculate” I return to the starting page. (This is the Pathfinder NPC generator.)
This has happened to me before, but only occasionally. Now it’s happening every time.
Thanks for the site, by the way. It’s incredibly useful and I do intend to buy a membership as soon as this problem is cleared up.
(I’ve tried Chrome and Firefox, by the way.)
Having an issue. Created a half-orc ranger (archer) lv 6 in the pathfinder creator and when I loaded the plain text version it had a lot of “adaptations” cluttering the form and it was stuff totally unrelated such as ooze and construct abilities.
Hi Admin,
The 3.5 Add Monster tool is just getting better & better. One issue I’ve encounter is when you select Cleric, Sorcerer, Wizard, etc, with a level designated (I’ve tried 13, level 13, CL 13, and so on), it just adds it as text under Special Attacks and does not create a link to the specified class (with the spell selection option). Is it just me, or do I just have to manually add it (by creating another ad-hoc level 13 spellcaster and copying this to the original Plain Text monster), which takes a lot longer.
Also, I’ve got a plethora of classes, prestige-classes, new feats, spells, and magic items that I’ve designed for my home-brew campaign world. In the future, is there any chance that you might introduce an Add feature (for the above items) that allows the GM to bring his own works to this tool (under his secure log-on). Just a thought.
Regardless, this tool is the best on the market.
Hi jezzakstyles,
Thanks for reporting. I’ve just done a small change. It should be working correctly now.
Adding feats and spells probably would not be that difficult, but adding new classes could be difficult as most new classes require extra special abilities defined and some require code changes
Just purchased a 3 month subscription to try out your generators, but they wont recognize my membership. The home page recognizes me as a paid member, but when I click on a link to the NPC generator or monster creators, I can’t use them. (just free up to level 5 on NPC)
Just so you know. I am using IE7, and I have allowed your site and re bookmarked you acording to your troubleshooting. Still will not work….except for the pathfinder page. That recognizes me as paid….
It is working now. I did not think to delete past cookies when i did it. After i got your VERY fast response, I went and did that, and now it is working. Thanks for the fast service, and the great website.
I am having trouble accessing my new account with you. The link in the e-mail has not worked for the past week since I received payment conformation. How do I access the full account capabilities?
Thx
Hi Paul,
I have a suggestion for your next build. Can you move the Log-In box to the top of the page (above the Home box). I’ve lost count of the number of times that I’ve went to select Log-In and inadvertently hit the 3.5 NPC Generator log-in box instead. Whenever this occurs, for the rest of that day (several hours anyway, but I generally give up & don’t use it until following day), the 3.5 NPC Generator tool does not recognise me as a lifetime member, and therefore limits me to level 5 & lower and can’t access the many monsters I’ve added on for my homebrew world. I still maintain full access to the rest of the options, just not for the 3.5 NPC option??
It’s getting to be a real pain, just one slip of the cursor and the site is basically useless to me for the rest of that day due to a security feature.
Cheers
Jeremy
Hi Paul,
Just to let you know the Heavy Warhorse does not appear to have a bite attack in its full attack.
Thanks again for providing such a great resource!
James
Hi,
excellent inovation! congratulation!
Bug report:
CR calculation for templated creature is often worng.
a Wight(fiendish) shown as a CR 5, when it should be CR 3.
human barbarian 5 werebear - is CR 8, when it should be 6 - and generally, the few templates I’ve seen are often 1 or 2 higher CR then they should be.
Hi ironballs,
Thanks, I’ve split the fiendish template up into HD ranges so the CR will be correct i.e 1-3 = 0, 4-7 = +1 and 8+ = +2. A werebear should give +4 CR so a 5th level barbarian werebear should be CR 9 (5 for barbarian and +4 for werebear). (page 177 of MM list CR depending on animal HD: 1-2 = +2, 3-5 = +3, 6-10 +4, 11-20 +5, 21+ +6.)
For Pathfinder the CR is either +1 or the CR of the base creature whichever is higher).
If you find anything else please let me know.
Paul
Regarding the werebear - The CR should be:
[the CR of the base creature (barb 5) OR the creature (CR 5)] +1 = so total CR 6…
I quote: “CR: Same as base creature or base animal (whichever is higher) +1.”
Regarding the Fiendish template:
I think you mistaken it with the “Half-fiend” template. Fiendish’s CR is 0-1, Half-fiend is 1-3.
Other then that, great job! this is a very impressing feat of code engineering - very accurate results!
Hi ironballs, I’d not looked into Pathfinder Lychanthropes in detail. They are quite different to the way D&D 3.5 worked. It looks as if I will have to do some program changes to cope with the Pathfinder rules. The “were” templates as they are at the moment are quite a lot stronger than the Pathfinder rules. I should get it corrected this week.
I’ve updated the Half-fiend template
Hi ironballs, I’ve done changes to the way lychanthropes, Fiendish and Half-Fiend templates are working. They should now all be work correctly in the Pathfinder NPC Generator.
Let me know if you think it’s working right.
I believe I made a mistake and paid for my membership outside of my account… After I paid, it said my login was not created, and now that I re-created it, I don’t have access to the Monster generator.
Hi jovallerand,
For pathfinder the monsters are only accessible by you. D&D 3.5 monsters saves can be found in the encounter generator. I’m thinking of creating a pathfinder encounter generator which will display pathfinder created saves.
Paul
Hey… I don’t seem to be getting to my paid subscription… I sign in and that seemed to work as it says “Logged on as craigandrie 3 month member expires 2012-07-09″. But then i go to create a pathfinder NPC and it is as if I am not logged in… Help.
hello , have paid for one years membership but can’t get it to accept me , made account on the 21/12/2011 , other wise grat site , merry christmas
Hi brumby68 I’ve now set you up manually. Merry Xmas

Hi inkedmsd, I’ve put in a fix for the skills not appearing, Thanks for reporting the error

Hey, I paid for a three month membership on Jan 4, but I can’t make an NPC above level five. Is something wrong? Thanks.
Hi ppaddick, Ive manually renewed your membership and sent you an E-mail

Hi jezzakstyles, this sound like an IE7 security problem, try updating the security options here is a link on how to allow dinglesgames.com in IE7 security http://www.dinglesgames.com/how-to-guide/having-trouble-accessing-monster-create/

Hi Spod e-mailed you, probably a problem with cookies.

Are you still having problems?
Having an issue. Created a half-orc ranger (archer) lv 6 in the pathfinder creator and when I loaded the plain text version it had a lot of “adaptations” cluttering the form and it was stuff totally unrelated such as ooze and construct abilities.

Wow, that was fast. I know nothing about computer programming, but if you could add the Feats and Spells options, that would be great!

Hi Steelplayer36,
Can you double check cookies are enabled for http://www.dinglesgames.com. Try logging out of IE7 and logging back in. If you still have problems you could try using Firefox as a browser. The problem does sound like the cookie problem though

Hi jezzakstyles, I’ve updated the menu list on the left. It sounds as if you are not allowing cookies. You should have full access to all menu options. Have a look at this link

Hi JFurlong,
Thanks for reporting I’ve updated the horse stats for the Pathfinder generator
Hello and thank you for making this site which is critical to hours of fun for my gaming group.
When I add the “Armor masterwork masterwork” property the AC shows as an extra .01, like so: 21.01
I’ve tested this on a few combinations and it appears consistent.
Hi,
excellent inovation! congratulation!

human barbarian 5 werebear - is CR 8, when it should be 6 - and generally, the few templates I’ve seen are often 1 or 2 higher CR then they should be.
Hi asernick, I was using the .01 to denote masterwork armor in the calculation for skill penalties. I’ve now taken this off the display.
Paul

Hi, I purchased a 6 month membership but I cannot create an npc above level 5. Is there something additional I need to do?
Thanks a lot! Everything seems to work fine!
Also, I have a question for you: Are monsters and NPCs we create accessible to anyone, or just to our own account?
Hi tigercat1456
The problem is probably to do with cookies. You are probably not allowing cookies from www,dinglesgames.com
Have a look at this link http://www.dinglesgames.com/how-to-guide/having-trouble-accessing-monster-create/
thanks for the quick help that worked
