New NPC Generator

I’ve just added the D&D 3.5 NPC Generator to the site. This has the extra features of spells and magic item selection. Have a play with it and tell me what you think. If you find a bug let me know and I’ll get it fixed ASAP (I haven’t managed to test every magic item).

    Hi James,
I came across the mob in DMG 2. Its just a crowd of creatures that act like one monster. A bit like a swarm. They get 30HD and automatically hit. I used them when my 15th level party decided to fight the goblin kingdom. Lots of goblin mobs…

hi, i wanted to say that i really like the npc generator but why don’t you have feendish as a template.

Its actually called a “Throat” Slot in dnd 3.5… Just my 2 cents..

Thanks for your reply. Btw, the reason you’re getting these comments is that NPC Designer just choked on the idea of a Ghoul Monk and couldn’t do it.

I did miss the AC in bold. I think in terms of three ACs: AC, touch, and flat — and there three ACs were. Maybe the three sub-ACs should be right-justified, to line up with all the other numbers in that column, and be close to the main AC.

I’m aware that converting to a zombie makes all your hit dice d12s, but you can’t have a zombie with class levels. In my ignorance about what other rule you’re using, it still seems like it should be d12s + d8s. But hey, I didn’t even know the rule about being able to raise an undead 4 HD for only 1 CR.

The character sheet we use at home just lists “Neck: (amulet, brooch, medallion, necklace, periapt, or scarab)” and so on, so that’s where I got the idea it was called “Neck slot.” Maybe if you called it the “Necklace slot” it would be clearer.

Thanks again Noumenon, it is good to get someone elses angle on the generators, I’ll certainly try to make the AC clearer, also renaming to a neck slot is a good idea.

Also when I added monk levels to a ghoul (admittedly not a normal thing to do) the hit dice came out all as d12s. And the armor came out with a +4 natural armor for AC of 14, but what I assume are a normal monk’s touch AC (19) and flat (18).

      Hi Noumenon,
Thanks for your comments, To answer your queries, about the Ghoul monk
The Ghoul has +4 natural AC this is added to the monks AC the total AC is printed above the Natural AC (14) in Bold type , I created a 10th level Ghoul monk and this AC was 23. i.e 19 (monk) +4 (natural). I think you missed the AC in Bold as its to the right of the breakdown.
All undead always have Hit die of D12 no matter what their original class was. I only found this out when I created the generator. (At first I was using the class hit die).
A periapt is classed as an amulet slot in the DMG (pg 214) there is no seperate slot for a neck. I had to look this up when I added in the magic Items 🙂 .

I like your new magic item selector. It’s very easy to use and you summarize everything and tell how much gp you have to spend… it’s great. When I tried to buy a periapt of wisdom I noticed there was no neck slot though. So I just pretended it was a headband of intellect instead.
