  1. admin says:

My next project is to add in Monster Templates so you can create the Troll Vampire or Ogre Lich.

  2. admin says:

I’ve now added in Wands Staffs and Rods.
I need to do some work in changing the selected weapon if a staff or rod that can be used as a weapon is selected.
At the moment it is best to manually change the primary weapon to the weapon type of the staff/rod (e.g. Rod of Python = quarterstaff, rod of withering = light mace). The magic bonus of the Rod/staff will be automatically included onto the weapon.

  3. admin says:

I’ve released the Magic Items as a Beta version if anyone has any problems with them or any comments please let me know (and I can back it out).

I’ll let you play with it for a couple of days before I make it live (the alpha version).

  4. Paul says:

    Thanks Magnus.
I’m hoping to have magic items within the next couple of days (all rings and wondrous items plus magic weapons and armour) these will effect the stats of the monster created. This will also give a running total of the amount spent against the maximum treasure allocation for the CR.

  5. Magnus says:

Just a quick one to say what a brilliant resource this is – thanks!

  6. Ted says:

Yep, that was what I meant, just the NPC classes (Adept, Warrior, etc.).

  7. Paul says:

I’m hoping to have magic items appearing by Tuesday on the NPC generator

  8. Ted says:

Maybe I am mistaken, but I thought that NPC class levels increased CR by 1 for every 2 levels added, instead of a 1 for 1? What do you think?

    • admin says:

      Thanks for the feedback Ted,
The textbook rule is that if a class is related to the the monster (e.g Barbarian Ogre) then it will go up by 1 CR per level. If the class is not related (e.g. Rogue Ogre) it will go up 1 CR every two levels. At the moment the generatator is not complex enough to determine which class is favourable for each monster so it gives the fist class +1CR per level and the second class +1CR every 2 levels.
It is on my list of things to do to make the CR more realistic, but you are right in that the CR’s generated are sometimes not quite right.
Edit: Did you mean the NPC classes (Adept, warrior, etc) from the DMG Ted? If so I think you are probably right. I’ll make the changes with the next release (with the magic items).

  9. Paul says:

Fixed a bug where Bard and sorcerers were not getting the right number of spells known.

  10. Paul says:

This is the new version of the monster generator it now includes spell lists. I will soon be including Magic items.
