How to Create a Template

After you have purchased a membership from Dingle’s Games you will be able to create your own monster and Templates.

Some notes on templates:
1. The Stats for a template are all based on an average of 11, so if you give 13 to Str this will add +2 (13 minus 11) to the Strength score of the base creature, 9 Chr will give -2 (9 minus 11) Charisma to the base creature.

2. If a Stat is set to 0 this will set the stat to zero on the base creature. This can be used when creating undead templates and setting the Con to 0.

3. Setting the Type to Undead will change the Hit Die (D8 for Pathfinder, (D12 for D&D 3.5).

4. Changing the Saving Throws will only effect levels attributed to the Template.

5.Reach is ignored in templates

6. Speeds are taken either from the base creature or the template whichever is greater.

7. Special Attacks and Special Qualities can be set up to only activate at certain HD using the Min HD and Max HD fields

8. Size is defined as the change from medium so +1 to a size catagory would be set to Large, -1 to size Catagory would be set to Small.

Thanks for the quick reply 🙂 Will try out what you say and if it doesn’t work out will get back to you.

  2. admin says:

    Hi Industrious1,
The template you created should appear in the template list not the monster list. I see you’ve created 2 templates “Genlock, Darkspawn”, and “Darkspawn” If you still have problems check you are still logged on as Industrious1 (box on the left)it could be you are loosing your user id as it is kept in a cookie.
Let me know how you get on
    Paul

Created a monster template and it does not appear in the lists when I try to make an NPC with it. Looked and re-looked but it does not work. I am a subscriber and would really like to use this but apparently I am not able. Solutions?

  4. admin says:

Hi horatio_tyllis, Your new monsters will appear in the monster selection list in the Pathfinder and D&D 3.5 generators. Just select your new monster as you would any other monster and press plain text version. You must be logged in to use your creations.

  5. horatio_tyllis says:

So I’ve created a couple of creatures, but how do I access their stat blocks so that I can print a copy for me to have at the table? I can’t seem to find an option for it.

  6. admin says:

    Hi patricktremblay13@hotmail.fr,
You need to set the other speeds to 0 i.e. Fly, Climb, Burrow

  7. patricktremblay13@hotmail.fr says:

I tried to add a monster (Kaorti from Fiend Folio), but I could not «create» it : Speed must be numerical (and it was, it did not have the ‘ or ft, just 30).

  8. Crossfiyah says:

    Thank you sir

  9. admin says:

    Hi Crossfiyah,
You create templates in the Monster Creator (Add) function. You create a template like you create a monster but set the template field to “template”, this is a drop down menu found next to the CR Rating.

    …So where do I go to make a template? I don’t understand.
